Claiming expenses for a CPS Pre-Trial meeting

If you are an adult victim of rape or another serious sexual offence and you have been advised that the case is going to trial, you are entitled to a CPS Pre-Trial meeting with members of the prosecution team, ahead of giving evidence.

If you attended a CPS Pre-Trial meeting with members of the prosecution team, you are entitled to claim expenses after your meeting.

There are limits on how much you can claim, but the CPS can pay for things like:

  • food and drink
  • travel costs
  • overnight stays
  • loss of earnings
  • childcare costs or adult care costs

You must be able to:

  • upload receipts as a PDF or an image
  • provide your bank account details if you want your expenses to be paid into a UK bank, building society or non-UK bank
  • provide a UK address if you want to be paid by cheque

We will deal with your claim as quickly as possible and, as long as you have filled the form in correctly, we aim to pay within 10 working days.

You will also be able to claim expenses for the trial at which you give evidence.
